Big jobs require heavy-duty equipment, but getting equipment with an off-highway hydrostatic traction system to and from a job site can be difficult. Not anymore. The TWISTOTOW® Drive is part of the PowerWheel Planetary Drive line from Auburn Gear, a versatile, powerful engineered drive solution. These drives power your off-highway hydrostatic traction systems on the job and allow you to pull or tow the vehicle or trailer at highway speeds (70 mph or 110 kph).

Application Study: HELICOPTER TUG FEATURING MODEL 3 TWISTOTOW®
ABOUT THE DESIGN: In this helicopter tug (also an E-Trac™ application), the patented Model 3 TWISTOTOW® is used to propel all 4 omnix-type wheels. There is an additional 45:1 reduction in front of the 3.60:1 reduction in the Model 3. Thus, the total system reduction is 162:1.
The 162:1 ratio provided too much resistance to overcome to move the tug around. But, if the drive system of this application were to become disabled, the Model 3 TWISTOTOW® mechanism allows the end-user to easily disconnect the drive system and push the tug around.
